First Pour

Oh well, now I know that I can't rotate pictures on blogger! Any case - this shows the results of my first pour.

My setup to melt the aluminium is very primitive and energy inefficient using wood instead of coal or propane as a fuel but it works and that's what counts.

I was after a piece of round stock that I can turn into gears - still a long way to go with that. The piece in the middle of the picture is exactly what I'm after. The rest will be melted down and turned into hammer heads.

This was recycled from 2 old hard discs and 2 stepper motor casings stripped from old DLT drives.

Well, when the ANC was unbanned they could barely afford to pay the rent, nowadays they're more than a billion rands strong.

That to me smacks strongly of greed and growth at such a rate can only be fuelled by "illegitimate" means.

Quad Engine

Well......I just bought a quad engine for the GLA buggy however I think it'll be too fast for the kid too handle. Think I'll use it to build a 2 seater and use a Honda 3.5 HP motor for his one.

My First Post

I having a tough time coming to terms with my brother's death. Frequently I just ... sort of disappear - like my mind detaching itself from my body. Jeez.

I would have gladly given my life for him and I just realised last night I never told him how much I loved him. Never hugged him apart from when he was still a babe. Have'nt spoken to him for 2.5 years after we had a slight disagreement.

Well - I just have to deal it, just need to keep busy to stop my mind wandering.

Highlight today was the arrival of the pedestal drill I ordered. Problem now is finding space in my garage - but I'll find a corner for it.

It took my mind a bit off the recent death of my little brother - God bless his soul.

Well blogging from my mobile is no fun at all.
